The Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT) is one of the founding Institutes of FORTH (Foundation for Research and Technology, Hellas). FORTH reports directly to the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Hellenic Ministry of Development and Investments. The Research Institutes of FORTH cooperate creatively as an integrated network for RTD. During its operation ICE-HT has been developed into a leading center for the advancement of scientific knowledge in the fields of chemical engineering sciences. ICE-HT has participated in numerous RTD projects in cooperation with industrial enterprises, universities and research centers from Greece, as well as from other EU-member countries, USA, Japan, etc.
The expertise of the lab that participates in INNOMEM involves multi-scale modeling, simulation of flow, transport and sorption in membranes, 3D reconstruction of mixed-matrix and multi-layered membranes from SEM images, prediction of separation, purification and barrier properties. The role of FORTH within INNOMEM is to support the establishment of procedures for modelling membrane materials and processes, as well as membrane structure characterization.
